Oscar Niz es un corredor de calle que demuestra día a día que no todo es ganar; que hay otras cosas por la que luchar.

El Circuito de Maratones tiene un grupito de cinco o seis atletas que siempre largan primero y seguro nunca llegarán en esa posición pero le ponen el alma en cada prueba y se merecen el aplauso de todos, el mismo que reciben cada vez que largan.
Se trata de aquellos que corren en la categoría «Especiales» pero que, al fin y al cabo, son atletas que entrenan, sufren y gozan como cualquiera de los otros de elite o los amateur; que sueñan con un podio o una medalla al final de cada prueba o simplemente un aplauso por la felicidad de haber llegado y poder cumplir con el objetivo fijado. Aparte de eso Oscar demuestra otras virtudes que lo hacen muy valorable.

Eso es Oscar Niz, el atleta «Especial» que no quiere faltar a cada una de las pruebas que se corren en nuestra ciudad. Amigo de los amigos y compañeros de todos.
Oscar no tuvo una infancia feliz, sufrió más de la cuenta pero, las carreras de calles, esas que conoció en su Tostado natal, le cambiaron la vida.
Con él dialogamos en esta cuarentena donde el running vuelve a tener actividad para su felicidad.

¿Cómo se compone tu familia?
Acá sólo está mi papá y, en Tostado, están mis hermanas Paola Andrea, Nahuel y Fabiana Carrión.
¿Cómo y cuándo comenzaste con esto de las maratones?
Yo empecé en el año 2000 en la ciudad de Tostado (en Santa Fe) por una amiga que me invitó. En Tostado se hizo la primera maratón de la ciudad y lo corrí. Ahí me empezó a gustar y ya no paré».
¿Cuándo llegaste a nuestra ciudad?
Con 22 años llegué a esta ciudad en el 2004 donde seguí corriendo y me hice de muchos amigos que mantengo gracias a Dios.

¿Te prendiste al Circuito de Maratones y corres algunas más?
Me gusta mucho correr los maratones locales y también, cuando puedo, viajo a otras ciudades para correr. He ido a correr a Paso de los Libres, en Corrientes, en Buenos Aires y todas las carreras de Entre Ríos.
¿Los sábados te sumás a los fondistas de Regatas?, un grupo donde te quieren mucho.
Si es un hermoso grupo donde me quieren mucho y yo los quiero a ellos. Cuando los acompaño en bicicleta al grupo de Martina, Carina, el Ruso y muchos más, les doy agua y les llevo mandarinas. Cargo mi mochila y salgo con ellos.

Para que nos cuente algo sobre Oscar recurrimos a Carina Chiapetti, integrante del grupo que siempre tenían a Oscar como acompañantes en sus fondos de los sábados. Carina nos dice que «Oscar siempre nos acompaña los findes cuando hacemos «fondo». Va en bici y lleva una mochila con agua y mandarinas para todos. Y un dato que lo marca es que siempre va atrás, acompañando al último. Nunca deja sólo a nadie. Te alienta. Es un capo. Yo no sé qué es lo que pasa por su cabecita pero es como un niño grande con un corazón enorme. Cuando nos cruza corriendo nos filma o nos saca fotos y después nos la manda.
La verdad que como dice Marti (Martina Boxler) no es sólo correr, ser el mejor… Eso no alcanza. Esto se trata de incluir y que llegar primero o ser el más rápido no te hace mejor persona, ni más ganador.
Oscar nos demuestra cada vez que nos encontramos que hay otros valores y le pone unas ganas terribles. Siempre con buena onda, solidario, un excelente compañero»
