NOTI-RETRO: «BELA», UNA HISTORIA QUE ARRANCÓ EN IBIZA

Un 20 de septiembre de 1999 se producía en nuestra ciudad un hecho histórico: Fernando Belasteguín, quien luego fuese 16 años número uno del mundo, ganaba su primer torneo profesional en el complejo Ibiza.

Ser 16 años, en forma consecutiva, el mejor jugador del planeta es algo reservado a unos pocos; quizás podría compararse con Adolfito Cambiasso el jugador de polo, múltiple campeón con La Dolfina. Pero «Bela», como se lo conoce en el mundo del padel, le agrega a aquellos 16 años haber sido cinco veces campeón del mundo en la competencia por equipos y en pareja.
Debutó como jugador profesional con tan sólo 15 años (1979) en un torneo argentino plagado de jugadores de enorme jerarquía, Roberto «Roby» Gattiker, los hermanos Alejandro y Mariano Lasaigues, Alejandro»Mago» Sanz, Gabriel Reca, Sebastián Nerone, Miguel Lamperti, los hermanos Matías y Godo Diaz muchos de los cuales después se fueron a España y varios aún siguen jugando en gran nivel.

Dos años le costó a Bela lograr su primer título en el torneo de nuestro país, donde por ese entonces, aún estaban los mejores del país. Fue en 1999 en pareja con Guillermo Demianiuk y en el complejo Ibiza Padel de nuestra ciudad.
Un muy jovencito Bela lograba su primer título y ganándole la final nada menos que a los números uno del mundo, Gabriel Reca y Seba Nerone en un enorme partido que tuvo a una enorme cantidad de aficionados presenciándolo.
Los campeones comenzaron marcando el camino y por un cómodo 6/2 se quedaron con el primer set. Reaccionaron Demianiuk-Belasteguín ganando el segundo parcial por 7/5 ya en un trámite muy cerrado llevando el partido al tercer set para felicidad de los presentes deseosos de ver, bien de cerca, el mejor padel del mundo. Fue 6/4 para que Fernando Belasteguín, el jóven que nació en Pehuajó y comenzó a jugar al padel a los 13 años junto a los hermanos Díaz y dirigidos por el padre de estos, comience su enorme camino en el padel del mundo.
Fue lo último que hicieron en nuestro país dado que después viajaron a España donde Bela consiguió ser el numero uno del mundo a los 22 años; el más joven en lograrlo. Fue junto al marplatense Juan Martín Díaz quien años posteriores se nacionalizó español. Lo de Díaz-Bela fue arrollador a ral punto que estuvieron casi dos años invictos (1 año y 9 meses) invictos, ganando 22 torneos en fila. Único e irrepetible.
Con el «Zurdo» marplatense fueron número uno del mundo durante 13 años ganando la priolera de 272 torneos. Tras esto se unió al brasileño Pablo Lima para tener otros 3 años como líder del WPT; en 2017 Sanyo Gutiérrez y Maxi Sánchez logran quitarle ese liderazgo, a favor de su gran nivel y algunas lesiones de Bela que lo marginaron algún tiempo del Circuito.

  • Bela entrena en su casa de Pehuajó a la espera de poder a volver al circuito donde seguirá jugando con Agustín Tapia.

Lo vimos -con la banda de Ibiza- volver en gran nivel en el Abierto de la República Argentina en La Rural ya jugando su último partido junto a Pablo Lima para comenzar a jugar con el catamarqueño Agustín Tapia. El ranking lo tiene hoy como número 7 pero con todas las ganas de volver al liderazgo y tiene con qué hacerlo dado que además de su jerarquía ha sumado a un jugador que viene en pleno crecimiento.
CAMINO AL PRIMER TÍTULO
El complejo Ibiza fue el escenario donde Belasteguín arrancó su enorme camino en el padel mundial. Ganó su primer torneo de la Argentina y este fu el camino que recorrió junto a Guille Demianuk:
Octavos de final:
A Cavalleri-Ovide, 5/2 y 6/4.
Cuartos de final
A Nanny-Sánchez, por 6/1 y 6/4.
Semifinales
A Díaz-Lamperti, 5/7, 7/5 y 6/3.
Final
A Reca-Nerone, 2/6, 7/5 y 6/4.
